Peter Aiken, PH.D.
Founding Director: Data Blueprint
Peter Aiken is an acknowledged Data Management (DM) authority. He is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), past President of the International Data Management Association (DAMA-I) and Associate Director of the MIT International Society of Chief Data Officers. As a practicing data consultant, professor, author and researcher, he has studied DM for more than 30 years.  International recognition has come from assisting more than 150 organizations in 30 countries including some of the world's most important.  He is a dynamic presence at events and author of 10 books and multiple publications, including his latest on Data Strategy.  Peter also hosts the longest running and most successful webinar series dedicated to DM (hosted by dataversity.net).  In 1999 (before Google, before data was big, and before data science), he founded Data Blueprint, a consulting firm that helps organizations leverage data for profit, improvement, competitive advantage and operational efficiencies.   Peter ken wrote the first book on CDOs, crystalizing the case for data leadership in organizations desiring to become more data centric.  He also wrote the first book on how to monetize data for profit and social good as well as the first book on modern strategic data thinking.  These three topics:  data leadership, strategy, and monetization form critical, necessary but insufficient prerequisites to organization data advancement.  
Ed Gooding

Before joining Data Blueprint, Ed was co-founder and principal in Firebird Staffing Solutions.  FSS started providing staffing services to clients from Charlotte, NC to Baltimore, MD in 2014. In 1983, Ed co-founded, owned and served as President of The Merge Computer Group in Richmond, Virginia.  Merge closed its doors at the end of 2013.  The company provided Information Technology consulting and staff augmentation services, application development solutions, and usability consulting services to clients in the Mid-Atlantic region. In 1979, Ed founded his first company from which he provided personal I.T. consulting services to large corporate clients that included A. H. Robins Pharmaceuticals, Best Products, Reynolds Metals, and different divisions of the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Ed has also been involved with Virginia Commonwealth University since 2003 in a variety of ways.  He has been teaching in the School of Business Executive M.S. in I.T. (FTEMS/EMSIS) program since 2008, serves on the curriculum advisory committee and has collaborated with VCU on business ventures.

 

Glenn Carney

Glenn is a BI expert, speaker, and mentor who consults on data management technologies, principles, and practices. He provides business-oriented technical data management systems expertise that has benefited a diverse set of clients over the years. Glenn's experience includes leading IT infrastructure, data analytics, IT and regulatory governance in fortune 500, medium and small business.
Technically adept and able to go hands-on as needed, Glenn blends deep experience with current technologies and is equally effective with business leaders and technical staff. He is also a certified Data Vault practitioner - a certification specific to creating high-performance and scaleless data warehousing architectures.
As an enterprise data architect, Glenn has significant hands-on experience with on-premise and cloud systems such as the Microsoft suite of data management tools (SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS), AWS (Lambda, Data Pipe, Dynamo, Cloudsearch), and Azure, not to mention Python, R, Tableau, and Power BI. In the realm of data warehouse architecture and engineering, his expertise includes Master Data Management, Metadata, Data Governance, modeling, and optimization.

 

Melanie Mecca
Data Practices Maturity Lead
As managing author of the Data Management Maturity Model (DMM), Melanie is the leading expert on this comprehensive reference model for evaluating data management maturity. Having synthesized the collective knowledge of 50+ industry experts, Melanie has encompassed within the DMM a unique reference model for evaluating and improving data management capabilities. When Data Blueprint clients need a rigorous assessment of how mature their data management practices are, they derive considerable value from Melanie’s work in this area and her experience in leading such assessments across of spectrum of industries and organizational types. In her 30+ years of solving enterprise data challenges, Melanie advocates that the quickest path for organizations to achieving business value is to measure their data management capabilities and empowering governance.
Additionally, Melanie has developed and teaches a set of intensive courses leading to the Enterprise Data Management Expert certification. She has also developed and taught courses that cover topics from data stewardship and data management to metadata and governance. Barabara Nichols

Barbara Nichols is an Information Technology professional with over 30 years of experience assisting clients and software vendors to develop solutions and products to leverage data and information to their strategic advantage.  She has specialized experience in meta data modeling and management with a focus on integration in repository-based environments.
Barbara held strategic data integration and product development roles at Digital Equipment Corporation, R&O (now ASG/Rochade), Dovetail Software (Founder) and Ascential Software, now part of IBM’s WebSphere Information Server product line.  She brings extensive real-world experience in data governance processes, standards, models and tools.
Barbara founded Metaview360 in 2002 and has focused her consulting business in the areas of data and information management including: data governance, data warehousing, meta data management, tool evaluation, and information systems architecture.  Clients are typically from the Fortune 1000 and have included A.G. Edwards and Sons, The Australian Tax Office, The Bank of Thailand, McKesson Corporation, Target, Assurant Employee Benefits, Limited Brands, The TJX Companies, Fidelity Investments, Parexel, and Caterpillar Corporation.
She is a frequent speaker at DAMA and the Wilshire Data Conferences on the topics of data governance, integrated meta data life-cycles, data architecture, and on building the corporate vocabulary.
Lynn Noel
Owner: Digital Heratige
In 2019, Lynn established Digital Heritage Consulting LLC to integrate her career in information and data management with her life work in heritage music and folk arts. DHC lines of business include Crosscurrents Musicand Crosscurrents Press, DIY Digital design coaching, and the Future of Folk mentoring workshop series for creatives seeking to survive and thrive in the digital knowledge economy.
On the business-to-business side of DHC, Lynn is a senior data management consultant with Data Blueprint of Richmond, Virginia. As a member of their senior leadership Brain Trust, Lynn provides data management assessment and strategy consulting for digital business innovation and transformation. Lynn has a M.S. with honors in Human-Environment Geography from UW-Madison and a mini-masters in User Experience Design from Rutgers. She is a former Research Fellow of the Dickey Institute for Arctic Studies at Dartmouth College.

Lynn Noel

Lynn Noel designs data blueprints for digital innovation. Lynn is an organizational strategist, design thinker, and digital data management expert. She is the author of the Manifesto for Digital Business.
Lynn provides organizations with visionary strategies and practical roadmaps to orchestrate digital transformation, digital customer experience, self-service analytics, and hybrid cloud business architectures, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the vendor landscape and a prescient eye for emerging trends. This expertise comes from her work in enterprise architecture, including leveraging TOGAF and Zachman frameworks and innovative 3D architectural modeling. Her leadership and practical experience have been honed from years of “in the trenches” work with enterprise data management and customer relationship management tools and platforms. With both data and customer experience, Lynn delivers powerful insights and vision for Data Blueprint clients that provide the necessary foundation to design tailored strategies and roadmaps to digital business.
 
Lynn embodies the perspective that data management for organizations is both an art and a science. She combines her technical expertise with a social science background, artistic talents as a professional storyteller and musician, and hands-on DIY Digital design and user experience consulting. Data management and digital innovation are not strictly technical endeavors. They are heavily influenced and driven by the people and the dynamics of the organization looking to improve and innovate. It is the holistic approach to digital innovation strategies and concepts that Lynn is particularly adept at conveying. Further, her social science background and deep IT consulting experience provide a solid basis for identifying frameworks, design patterns, and ontology modeling that are tailored to the needs and demands of our clients.
 
Lynn is a User Experience Design professional certified from Rutgers and has an M.S. in Human-Environment Geography from the University of Wisconsin. As a former Research Fellow of the Dickey Institute of Arctic Studies at Dartmouth College and a consultant to the Canadian Heritage Rivers System, her book VOYAGES: Canada's Heritage Rivers was awarded Best Conservation Publication from the Natural Resources Council of America. Lynn is a member of DAMA and TDWI and an active mentor of women in STEAM, finding innovative ways to survive and thrive as creatives in the digital economy.
