Richmond VA, March 1, 2009: Data Blueprint, a Richmond-based data management and IT consulting firm celebrates its 10th anniversary. The company was founded in 1999 by Dr. Peter Aiken and has its origins at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Aiken is an associate professor of information systems at the university’s School of Business. Initially named the “Institute for Data Research (IDR)”, Data Blueprint is focused on improving organizational data and data management practices. Core services include DMPA® (Data Management Practices Assessment), data consulting, data engineering and data education. Data Blueprint is dedicated to helping organizations gain more value from their data assets by utilizing industry leading data management methodologies that improve data quality, reduce implementation cost and decrease time-to-market for strategic IT projects. Their team includes experienced IT professionals who have received numerous awards and recognition. Together, Data Blueprint’s data analysts, data engineers and data architects have developed internationally recognized approaches to data architecture and engineering that have resulted in centuries of time and tens of millions of dollars in savings to their clients.

Over the years, Data Blueprint has helped more than 50 customers in more than 20 countries ranging from the U.S. Federal Government's Railroad Retirement Board (based in Chicago) to Philip Morris International (based in Lausanne, Switzerland). It has worked with six of the world's 10 largest banks including the Bank for International Settlements (Basel, Switzerland), the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bank (both in Frankfurt, Germany) and the World Bank (Washington, D.C). It has helped to improve the data management practices of the world's largest retail and pharmaceutical companies including Circuit City Stores, RadioShack, Walmart, Ciba Chemicals, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Merck & Company, Inc. and Eli Lilly & Company.
