Data Blueprint awarded Department of Defense marrow donor program contract
August 01, 2007
Data Blueprint, a globally experienced, professional services company focused on improving organizational data and data management practices, was awarded a contract with the C.W. Bill Young Department of Defense (DoD) Marrow Donor Program to conduct a data architecture review and to coordinate the migration of the program's donor information database to the new architecture. Additionally, Data Blueprint will take the lead in the build, test and implementation of the new systems.
The DoD Marrow Donor Program provides support for military personnel who volunteer as marrow donors. Since the creation of the National Marrow Donor Program in 1986, more than six million Americans, including more than 400,000 service members, have registered as marrow donors.
Due to constantly advancing technology in the area of DNA typing; the methodologies and data produced during the bone marrow typing and classification process are constantly changing. Given the complex nature and large volume of the data, the DoD Marrow Donor Program has developed a preliminary data architecture that they believe will allow them to efficiently operate as their needs evolve. Because of the critical importance of the work that is supported by the database, the program directors have brought in experts from Data Blueprint to review the data architecture and oversee the migration process.
